What is Jyutping?

Jyutping (粵拼), is a popular romanization system for Cantonese. It was developed in 1993 by a an academic group at the Linguistic Society of Hong Kong and was given the formal name "The Linguistic Society of Hong Kong Cantonese Romanisation Scheme".

Jyutping is one among many other romanization methods for Cantonese like the Standard Romanization, Yale and Sidney Lau systems. You can find some more background information here on Wikipedia.
